Saw Happiness this week on DVD

Strange movie to talk about for my first post.

Where do I begin? How in the hell do you recommend this movie? I'm suprised it was even made considering its subject matter. I did like the movie a little, but it's so unseemly and bleak in its depiction of modern lives that I can't imagine going to someone I know and saying, "Hey, you really need to check this out!"

I do have friends that love twisted stuff, but I have a feeling that right around the scene where the guy spikes his family's ice cream with sedatives and then spiking his son's friends' tuna fish sandwich so that he can be "close" to him that they'd be shutting it off and looking at each other wondering what kind of person I am.

Thank God I watched it in small doses! It's about 2 hours and 15 minutes long, too.

I made the horrible mistake of watching the last part of this movie really late last night before I went to bed. Spoiler ahead... The end scene where the kid in the movie finally achieves what he's been depressed about and that achievement gets licked up by the dog, who then licks the Mom's face really stuck with me because it was so freaking sick (funny how this disturbed me more than the tuna fish sandwich scene)! I've had my dog lick my sweaty feet many times, but it's never occurred to me that a dog would lick up that stuff. (picture me shuddering...)
